 The red squirrel (Sciurus granatensis) is a species of tree squirrel found in many parts of North and South America. Red squirrels usually live in forests, parks or gardens in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, the Margarita Islands and Barro Colorado. Their habitat can also extend to urban areas such as parks or forests near cities. These squirrels are mostly herbivores that feed on fruit, nuts, seeds and leaves. They can also eat other plant foods such as nuts, flowers, and bark. Red spiders feed on acorns, walnuts, mangoes, bananas, avocados, corn, and apples.
